My approach to this project was extremely unique to my usual process. I began by importing the original artwork to my iPad and began sketching directly on the image. This really helped me visualize my ideas and I ended up keeping and refining most of my initial sketches. Before finalizing the hand-drawn elements, I brought the original artwork into Photoshop, and listened to the remixed version of Descent on repeat. I thought about how I could manipulate the image to both match the atmosphere of the new version while keeping the original track in mind. I created a lot of distortion in the image, as well as some compositing of the raw, unedited picture used to make the original artwork. Once I brought the two parts together, it was a seamless fit. I added a few layers to unify the piece, and it was done. I was so proud of the final product that I couldn't wait to deliver it to TBE. I hope all the listeners are brought a little further into the soundscape that TBE made when they look at my piece. Digital mixed media, 2020.
